FAQs

You have question, we have answers.  Below are some of the most commonly asked questions we receive, maybe yours is here too?

Q – Can the Evergreen indoor blower motor be used to replace OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Variable Speed or X13 ECM?

A – Variable speed and X13 motors are programmed specific to each HVAC system by the HVAC OEM to provide proper airflow and comfort options. They also use communication inputs that are unique to their design and features.  These motors should be replaced with the OEM equivalent to provide the consumer with the proper operation, efficiency and features of their system. Q – Is there an Evergreen outdoor fan motor

A – Not yet! GE Commercial Motors by Regal-Beloit offers the Life-Line™ and Life-Line™ Heatshield™ multi-horse power PSC motors for aftermarket condensing fan motor replacement.

Q – Will the TECMate PRO ECM troubleshooting tool work on the Evergreen AH or IM motor?

A – The TECMate PRO is designed for troubleshooting Genteq Variable Speed ECM motors only. Click here to go to thedealertoolbox.com where you can download the ECM Service Guide for more troubleshooting information on all Genteq ECM motors.

Q – How are  the Evergreen AH and Evergreen IM different?

-          1/2Hp, CCW, 208/230 (multi-horse power 1/6-1/2)

-          1/2Hp, CW, 208/230 (multi-horse power 1/6-1/2)

-          3/4Hp, CCW, 208/230 (multi-horse power 1/2-3/4)

-        3/4Hp, CW, 208/230 (multi-horse power 1/2-3/4)

A- The Evergreen IM is also designed to replace 1075 RPM direct drive indoor blower motors. However, its two models are both dual voltage and dual rotation. This makes the Evergreen IM applicable to almost all residential and light commercial HVAC applications 1Hp or less. The versatility of the Evergreen IM is what allows just two models to cover so many applications, reducing inventory.

-          1/2Hp, CW/CCW, 115/230 (multi-horse power 1/5-1/2) part # 6005

-          1Hp, CW/CCW, 115/230 (multi-horse power 1/2-1) part # 6010

Q – What applications will the Evergreen IM work in?

A – The Evergreen IM is designed to replace 1075 RPM, direct drive PSC (Permanent Split Capacitor) indoor blower motors in any residential  or light commercial HVAC system, 5 ton or less of cooling and 150k Btu or less of heating capacity. That includes all fossil fuels, electric heat, A/C, heat pump, dual fuel and geothermal systems. The Evergreen IM is built in two multi-horse power sizes to replace 1/5 – 1 horse power PSC motors. Both models are dual voltage (115/230) and dual rotation (CW/CCW). This reduces motor selection and inventory to just two for almost all applications.

- 1/2Hp, CW/CCW, 115/230 (multi-horse power 1/5-1/2) part # 6005

- 1Hp, CW/CCW, 115/230 (multi-horse power 1/2-1) part # 6010

Q – How do I select rotation on the Evergreen IM

A – The Evergreen IM will automatically configure itself to the proper rotation of any HVAC system using patent pending Rotation Sensing Technology.

Q– What size Evergreen IM is right for my application

A– The Evergreen IM is built in two multi-horse power sizes to replace 1/5 – 1 horse power PSC motors. The selection charts below are a combination of matching the horse power (Hp) of the existing PSC motor AND the capacity of the existing HVAC system to the appropriate Evergreen IM.

HVAC System

        1/5 – 1/2 Hp PSC                                                                                       1/2 – 1 Hp PSC

        1.5 – 3 Ton                                  1/2 Hp Evergreen IM                      3.5 – 5 Ton                        1 Hp Evergreen IM

        40 – 95k BTUH                           part # 6005                                          100 – 150k BTUH               part # 6010

Q – Will I need a new motor mount for the Evergreen IM?

A – The Evergreen IM has a 48 NEMA frame size which is the most common PSC motor frame size used in residential and light commercial HVAC. It requires a belly band mount. If the existing mount is a belly band style, it will most likely work on the Evergreen IM. Torsion flex mounts are not recommended on the 1 horse power motor. The Evergreen IM is typically 1-2” longer than the old motor. If space is a concern, a new recessed motor mount may allow the Evergreen IM to be adjusted further into the blower housing. Universal belly band motor mounts are available at your local distributor.
